Novoda is a Digital Product Agency formed of 50+ thinkers, builders and creators, putting our curiosity to work for clients of all shapes and sizes from our offices dotted around Europe. Right now we focus on developing digital products for mobile, though we're investing in the skills needed to do great work on the platforms of the future too.

Based in Berlin and a first time hire for us, we’re looking for a Managing Director to take on our German operation. Putting their passion, skills and experience to work to help us flourish in the region.

Reporting to novoda’s founders and working with our small global Leadership team, you’ll be driving the expansion of our Berlin office. From an outpost of 15 or so hardworking product people, to a thriving independent team of 40+ novodans in the next five years.

Here’s how you will help us

  1. Creating & delivering our local strategy
    You’ll own and execute the strategy, that helps us to grow our existing Berlin outpost into a thriving, financially independent local operation.
  2. Helping us to win our dream projects and clients
    You’ll lead business and partnership development for Germany, playing a central role in winning the very best clients and projects for our Berlin team to invest their time in.
  3. Representing the Berlin team
    You'll be the voice of the Berlin office within our Leadership team. Ensuring that the team are heard and know they’re represented in the most important decisions we make as a business. You’ll take the lead in telling novoda’s story externally too, acting as a public speaker and public relations representative in ways that strengthen novoda’s profile locally.
  4. Growing the team
    You'll help us to grow a diverse and engaged team, planning and building the crew that’ll take our Berlin operation confidently into the future. You'll support the learning, development and progression of a diverse and highly skilled team.
  5. Looking after the basics that keep us moving
    You’ll take responsibility for the day-to-day operational needs of the Berlin team. Building out our local operations capability as you grow the business. And saving the best until last, you’ll have sole P&L responsibility for the region too.

Who we're looking for

  1. Are you an agency veteran?
    The number of years you’ve notched up in an agency or consulting environment isn’t important. We’re more interested in the impact you had. You'll still need to have a strong understanding of the dynamics that influence how agencies compete, and the skills required to handle the financial and legal aspects of the job too (e.g. P&L responsibility).
  2. Can you help us to win great work?
    You can share examples of when you’ve helped to win significant new business for your employer. Plus the strategies that drove those wins. You’re willing to put in the work to get the projects we can be proud to work on.
  3. Are you a natural networker?
    Being well networked locally and understanding what drives the local agency market would be a real bonus.
  4. Are you all about your team?
    You can show your experience in leading teams of highly skilled people, without reliance on formal authority. You know what it takes to motivate and grow a highly capable team.

German language skills are essential for this role.
